Project log - 19th December

In today's lesson I started on my contents page. I decided to make it a double page one as I feel like I will have to fit a lot of information in a condensed space otherwise. In tomorrows lessons I am going to finish my last double page spread and try to finish my contents page. If I can do this, I will do my front cover. If I haven't got enough time, I plan to stay after school to make sure I have it all complete.

Tuesday 18 December 2012

Project log - 18th December

Today I didn't have a media lesson, but I went in during my free periods this morning and during my lunch break to make sure that I have completed the parts which I started in lesson. So far I have done 2 double page spreads and I am on my third one. I had some difficulty editing and cutting the images but I got help so I now understand. Im tomorrow's double lesson, I am planning on getting my third double page spread done and to start my contents page.

Saturday 15 December 2012

Project log - 15th December

In class on Wednesday, I decided to stay at lunch and make sure that I have added my draft article to my double page spread. I got help from one of my teachers. I added the text, made the first letter larger and added an image. With the image, I added a shadow effect onto it so that it doesn't look as plain. Next lesson I plan to add more onto my magazine draft, hopefully on my front cover.

Wednesday 12 December 2012

Project log - 12th December

In todays lesson I am cutting my focus group video so it it just focusing on the parts where I asked questions. I want to make sure I take all of my feedback into consideration. For example, the pose feedback shows me that I shouldnt get my model to show that they are over posing, and be more natural. I am also planning on continuing my magazine double page spreads.

Tuesday 11 December 2012

Equipment

Equipment

The equipment presentation was used to show what technology helped me plan, develop and make my magazine. I went into detail into what camera was used and made a specific reference to what it helped me with and other equipment was used. It gives an idea of how planned my photoshoot had to be, and how much time and effort was given to ensure that I was producing a high standard magazine when using the different techniques on equipment.

Project log - 11th December

Today I didnt have a lesson but I went to media during my lunch break. I decided to plan out what pages I am going too do and what it is going too look like. I plan to put this into place tomorrow during my lesson. I want to make sure that I have my second double page spread done soon so that I can move on too my front cover.

Questionnaire

Questionniare
I used this questionnaire to ask my target audience specifically what they wanted to be included, and what they look for when buying a magazine. It is an important part because it means that I should incorporate it within my magazine to ensure it would be appealing to my target audience if I was to show it to them. This could be referenced to throughout the planning, research and development of my magazine.

Proposal

Proposal
My proposal is outlining the genre, audience, institutions and representation of my magazine. It is setting it out clearly what I need to follow when designing my magazine, taking into consideration each of these points. The main ones I need to look at is the genre and audience. Without them segmented points in my proposal matching my final piece, it means that I haven't worked with the codes and conventions.

Pull Quotes

pull quotes
These were some idea's that I had when initially thinking about what sell lines I felt would be appropriate and would work well with the genre and topics which are incorporated within my magazine. These could be referred to when I was writing my article, it would of helped me decide on certain topics to mention and which ones wouldnt fit in aswell. I did include some of these sell lines, but some I decided not too. I used "I want to be one of the artists that inspires people" as i thought it was powerful and meaningful.

Draft article

Draft article
This is my first draft of my article. My article will be included within my magazine and will be the piece which will include all of the facts I have found out from the interests of my target audience. I will get feedback on my article and then decide whether or not I need to change or add certain aspects in. This isn't a set article which is definitely being included in my magazine because I am currently unsure on how much room will be needed for my magazine to fit in around my images and within the structure of my magazine. This means that I might need to cut it down or add more in.

Friday 7 December 2012

Project log - 7th December

Today I have thought of what I am going to do over the weekend. I want to upload my proposal and my draft article. I couldn't do this at school, therefore I need to do so at home. I am also going to plan out what I am going to put on my front cover so I can add it on Monday in lesson.

Thursday 6 December 2012

Project log - 6th December

In today's lesson, I added more onto my magazine double page spread draft. I wanted to find a font where it could layer over my models forehead, had a black outline but without a full. When I found one, I added it to my page after I designed it in photoshop. After this, the whole class did our focus group video where we spoke about our ideas and shared ideas. Tomorrow I am going to media at lunch to get some extra help and to add more and maybe start on my from cover draft.

Wednesday 5 December 2012

Project log - 5th December

Today whilst I was in class, I got some help with my double page spread draft. I decided on 2 images which I will use on Emily's side of the magazine. I got shown how to fade images and how to set out the magazine/how to add pages. All together my magazine is going to be 9 pages, so to get this done I am going to use my double in my next lesson and as many of my frees as I can.

Project log - 5th December

In class today I have started to do my draft of my front cover. I am getting some help from one of my teachers as I am slightly unsure on how to use photoshop. Because I only have around half an hour, I plan to get the design sorted and chose the picture for my front cover.

Monday 3 December 2012

Project log - 3rd December

I have been doing some work at home. I have started to think about what/who I want to include within my focus group. After speaking to my teacher about it, I am going to try to focus on being in a group with people who are doing the same genre as me. I think that this will make it a lot easier for me because we can get ideas from each other and come up with new ideas together.

Thursday 29 November 2012

Project log - 29th November

Today I plan to start my article and try and get as far through as I can. I have got some examples of peoples work from previous years for ideas. I am trying to focus on a modern day feel to the magazine which is how the teenagers would react to reading the magazine. I want it to relate-able for them.

Wednesday 28 November 2012

Project log - 28th November

In todays lesson I finished my promotional methods presentation. I focused on writing about new ways in which the audience of my magazine would be able to see it well. I wanted to finish this by the end of the lesson so that I could move onto my draft article tomorrow. I have not uploaded it to my blog just yet as scribd wasnt working, but I will do it once I have completed my article.

Monday 26 November 2012

Project log - 26th November

Tomorrow I have a single lesson of my coursework. I plan to get my questionnaires filled out so that I can write about them. Also, I plan to continue with my promotional methods, with some of the screen shots of facebook pages, twitter trends, and instagram for iphones and androids. I hope to be able to complete all of this by the end of the day, so that I can upload it to my blog and carry on with more work.

Friday 23 November 2012

Project log - 23rd November

Today I decided to do some work at home. I made some changes to my 'new media' presentation. I wanted to make sure that I had made it specific as to why I had chosen twitter to be a new media resource that can help to make my magazine better known. I decided that next time I do some work either at school or at home, I will start on my promotional methods. I'm making sure that I keep my work fluent so that I don't fall behind.

Wednesday 21 November 2012

Project log - 21st November

In todays lesson I changed all of the labels which are attached to my work. I thought it would make it look a lot neater and organised. As well as this, I uploaded some of the work that wasnt already on my blog even though it was completed. I filled out some of my classmates questionnaires, and after this, I created my own. By the time I had done all of this, I had run out of time, so in my next lesson I plan to get people to fill them out and write about them.

New media

New media
New media has been used in this presentation to come up with all of the different ways in which I could promote my media and how it would be appropriate for my target audience. The ones that I have chosen are clear within my presentation, but I chose these because of the fact that both twitter and facebook are easily accessible to my target audience of young adults/teenagers. I think that this piece of information will be really helpful when I go to design certain parts of my magazine, such as the subscription part as I can include logos such as facebook, twitter and instagram which are all relate able and would refer back to the research that I have carried out through this presentation.

Image Ideas

Image Ideas
Image ideas is a piece of research which I have carried out which falls under the label of 'planning'. It is allowing me to look at other images and get an idea of the images I want to be able to create to make it effective within my own magazine. It makes me realise the standard that my images will have to be to make sure that my magazine looks professional and will potentially get me a high grade. The sort of poses that are done within the magazines also give me an idea on which ones I would want my model to do to relate to the genre of my magazine.

Tuesday 20 November 2012

Project Log - 20th November

In our previous lesson, we had a fire drill so we didnt get the chance to complete any other work set. As I have completed all of my deadlines, I am now waiting for my teacher to set me some more in our next lesson. I want to make sure I am up to date with it because I feel like I could drop behind when all of it piles up. I have started some more work at home which I plan to complete by Thursday or Friday and then upload to my blog.

Tuesday 13 November 2012

Project Log - 13th November

As I have been off of school for 3 days now, I am planning on going to see my teacher on what I need to do to make sure I am up to date. I am still completing my deadline work and a few extra parts which I can easily get done. I plan to have all of this done by Thursday, so that I can start something new in class during this week.

Thursday 8 November 2012

Audience for all genders

Audience for All Genders
For this piece of work, I have planned out what exactly I need to focus on when I am designing my magazine. I make sure what I am putting into my magazine is relevant and would actually matter to the readers if my magazine. Genders is important within my magazine as I need to make sure I distribute the magazine equally to each one. It helped me focus a lot more on what needs to be included in my magazine to follow codes and conventions.

Audience

Audience
This is the presentation where I specify exactly who I would want to buy my magazine, and why. Once I had sorted this part of it out, I could then decide what I was going to include within my magazine - style, format, context, images. It gave me a better idea when I was thinking about social class aswell as the topic of conversation in my article would be determined by this. I think this will benefit me throughout my development of my magazine because I can then refer back to it and make sure I am following the planning that I would have previously done.

Project log - 8th November

Today I am getting started with my audience and proposal. I want to set myself the aim to have got through the majority of my audience part of it by the end of the double. I am going to do some at home aswell as at school to ensure I make my deadlines. I am sitting by myself today in class so I dont get distracted.

Wednesday 7 November 2012

Project log - 7th November

In todays lesson we got told what we have to do next. We are moving onto the Proposal and Audience of our magazines. Aswe only had a single lesson, we got taken through what we need to do for the majority of the lesson. I started to plan what I am going to write about so I can do some in my spare time and some in my free periods.

Tuesday 6 November 2012

Project log - 6th November

I haven't had a lesson since before half term. Tomorrow I do have one, so I will see what I need to do next on the checklist and then I can do some at home and some in class. As I have completed all of the 'research' part, I haven't had much to do on my blog for a few days but this is good for me because it has given me time to work on other subjects.

Saturday 3 November 2012

Project Log - 3rd November

Today I have uploaded my audience presentation on who I would aim my magazine at. As I was very busy the other day when I said I was going to upload it, I decided that I would dedicate today to doing all the extra work that I was set. I have now completely finished the Research part of the checklist so I am glad with the progress I have made and I think my teachers are too as I have got really good feedback. It has definitely helped to motivate me.

Sunday 28 October 2012

Project Log - 28th October

Today I plan to work out what I am going to do over half term. My deadline is to have done the audience by the time I go back to school. I have done a few extra things on my blog so I want to keep up to date on what I need to focus on. I plan to start my slides today and carry on throughout the rest of half term. I am going to spread it out equally throughout the week so it isn't an overwhelming amount of work.

Thursday 25 October 2012

Name Designs

Name Designs
The way that I had styled my masthead was important from the start. This piece of work can help me chose which one I would want to feature in my magazine. As the masthead is clearly visible on the front of the front cover, I would need to chose a font for my masthead that makes the page stand out from the rest. To increase my chances of this happening, I had to try several different fonts to see which one I preferred, which could then influence my decision on which font I should have for my actual masthead for my magazine.

Location Ideas

Location Ideas
Some of the different locations that I originally thought of for my magazine weren't as practical as I would of hoped. I had to plan out where I believed would be a good place to ensure I could get the images which I had pictured to be featured in my magazine. It is important for me to get the right location as it could determine the success of my images, which could then make or break by magazine. This presentation helped me and showed my planning of the photoshoot. It proved to be time consuming and a struggle to find somewhere appropriate for the genre I was aiming for my magazine to be.

Project Log - 25th October

Today I have started my images ideas even though I am not in school. I want to keep up my progress in my work so that I can stay motivated to work. I am not sure that I am doing the work right but tomorrow I will go to see my media teacher and find out if I am doing it right or not. After my images ideas, I am going to show pictures of what equipment I have used for my photo shoot and maybe do the location ideas.

Wednesday 24 October 2012

Project log - 24th October

In today's lesson I wasn't sure on what I was meant to be doing because we only had a single and we was going through what we have got left to do with our teacher individually. As I was near to the end I was trying to plan out what I can work on at home and I gave myself a deadline for when I want to have the 'image ideas' done by. Because I am not in tomorrow because of an interview I have which is during the time I have media, I am planning on emailing my teachers to find out what I missed and what I need to work on.

Tuesday 23 October 2012

Project Log - 23rd October

Today I have spent my lunch break in media uploading my double page spread codes and conventions work. I have now got to find out what work I have to do this week as I am not in on Thursday and want to keep myself motivated to be completing the work.

Double page spread Codes and Conventions

Double Page Spread Codes and Conventions
This piece of work proved to be an idea of what I was needing to include in my magazine. As I was told to analyse the different double page spreads, it became more aware to me what exactly had to be included, and how I needed to start to plan it. Throughout the planning stages of creating our magazines, I realised the importance of referencing back to this presentation to remind me of what is included in professional magazines, and how I can use the high standard and analysis I carried out, to help to improve my own work.

Monday 22 October 2012

Project Log - 22nd October

Today I have planned out how I think I want my magazine to look. I tried to imagine the images I will use which I have taken from my photoshoot. I tried to work out the layout and the structure which I want to have in my magazine. Tomorrow I am going to upload the pictures of what I have planned out, also some of the images I plan to use.

Thursday 18 October 2012

Contents page codes and conventions

Contents Cover Codes and Conventions
This was a way for me to look back on the work that I had done in the planning stages of our magazines. I needed to make sure that I was looking at what was crucial to have in my magazine and what makes a magazine as successful as they are. It also proved to me that the standards of the magazines are high, therefore, I need to match it, and I could do this by carrying out the same analysis for my own magazine. This would be time consuming but I feel like it should be done to ensure I am including all the right aspects that is needed to create a high standard and professional looking magazine.

Project Log - 18th October

In todays lesson I did my existing mastheads, my existing names, institutions and my colour connotations. I have now finished all of my 'research' part on my tick list so now I am going to continue with the 'planning' part of it.
I have chosen my name for my magazine, I chose 'Generation' because my magazine is focusing on what music teenagers/young adults, aged 14-20 listen to and how it is influcening them.

Colour connotations

Colour Connotations
Colour connotations are a good way for me to decide on what colours I would want to include in my own magazine. The different colours have different connotations, meaning that different moods can be highlighted through the uses of different colours. I needed to chose my colours carefully because I didn't want to make a mistake and mislead readers with the genre. This presentation was helpful throughout the planning stages of my magazine because if I changed my mind on colour and was unsure, I could look back and see what my own personal opinion was on each colour, and what I think they represent.

Existing Mastheads

Existing Mastheads
The existing mastheads presentation just groups all of the different magazines I could think of which are at a popular interest and a high demand. These are just a few that I collected to show how their logo is set out and how powerful it is when the reader sees it.

Existing Names

Existing Names
Both of existing names and institution have been included within this table. It is an easier way for me to set it out, where I can see how the different institutions have impacted on how the magazines are run. Also, it gives me a good idea of which institutions distribute certain magazines for the reason that it depends on context.

Wednesday 17 October 2012

Project Log - 17th October

I have just finished all of my homework and have uploaded it just before 10pm. Tomorrow I hope to move on to something new as I have completed everything I needed to by my deadline:

  1. sellines
  2. props and costumes
  3. representation
  4. codes and conventions
I also did extra - I did my masthead ideas for my magazine. I think I want to go with 'Generation' as it is recent music and my target audience is teenagers.

Representation of artists

Representation
This piece of work was interesting for me to do because it made me think differently about the images than I normally would. Through all of the analysis that I have carried out when looking at the images and writing about it in detail, I realised that it is important that the artist is perceived in the way that you would want them to be. It is important to give off the right message when choosing your model and your images in general. When I was choosing my images I looked back to this presentation to see what I had said as a reader of the magazine.

Props and Clothes

Clothes and Props
This mood board of the props and clothes that I have created are just a few images of what I want to be portrayed through my magazine. I want it to have an element of fun, and wildness to it. Therefore, the clothes and accessories included within this mood board are the colours and style that I would want my model to wear for my magazine. It is important for me to think of how I want my model to look in images, so that I can ensure I take the pictures right the first time round, allowing myself to move and work quicker. It needs to give off a certain vibe, and needs to suit the genre of my magazine.

Selline ideas

Sell Ines
The sell lines that I had come up with were all an initial thought. I wanted to make sure they sounded exciting, and wouldn't match the context of my article that I had already written. Even though I might not of used all of these sell lines, it gave me a good idea of what I needed to put on my front cover, allowing me to work out what sort of information and teasers need to be on my front cover to attract the reader.

Masthead Ideas

Masthead Ideas
These were just a few of my ideas of what to call my magazine. I wasn't sure on what to call it as everything I came up with was predictable for a magazine. I wanted to go with something different, my favorite was 'generation'. I wanted to capture the generation of music which was of my target market. It is all about them, therefore, I thought my masthead had to be relevant to the overall context of my magazine. This was the name that I ended up going with for my magazine.

Project log - 17th October

Today I had some problems with my contents pages codes and conventions presentations. I had to spend the lesson re-typing what I did at home because it failed to save. This wasted a lot of my time but I had pictures of what I had written so I could just copy it up. I am now carrying on with what I hadn't done on the contents page ones, then I am going to move onto the double page spread ones. My deadline for these is tomorrow so I have to work quicker and cut down on the detail which I am doing at the moment.

Tuesday 16 October 2012

Project log - 16th October

Today I didn't have a media lesson but I am currently carrying on with my codes and conventions as I couldn't finish it all when I would of wanted too. I found it harder for the contents page than the front covers because there is a lot more you need to focus on and think about it in depth.

Sunday 14 October 2012

Front cover - Codes and Conventions

Front Cover Codes and Conventions
This was part of the research part of developing and planning into what we wanted our magazine to be line. I looked into the codes and conventions of magazines of the same genre as mine, to see what was needed and what I could take from it as knowledge which could be applied for my own work.I found this really helpful as I then understood what was important for me to include within the development of my front cover of my magazine. It also gave me new ideas on what can be done and what I could look into doing within my own magazine. Taking ideas from these magazines will help to make my own magazine a higher standard and look more professional.

Saturday 13 October 2012

Project log - 13th October

Today I am going to try and finish my codes and conventions presentation and hopefully make a start on the representation of artists. I think this will be good for me to do today because then it gives me more time to do the rest of my media homework, as this will take me longer.

Thursday 11 October 2012

Project log - 11th October

Today I carried on with my codes and conventions PowerPoint. I started to work on my 'cover model' slide an started to really get into the analysis of it. I finished this and now I am starting to do the sellines page. I didn't understand the barcode page because I need to get someone to explain to me the meaning of what the barcode symbolises in depth. My homework is to finish all of the codes and conventions as well as my representation of artists. I'm planning on doing this at home and during my free lessons during school.

Wednesday 10 October 2012

Project log - 10th October

In todays we finished off watching the rest of the groups presentations on analysis of front covers, contents pages and double page spread. After this we was told to carry on/start our double page analysis but as I had done this at school I started to do my 'codes and conventions' powerpoint. I got up to the first slide which was anaylsis on the masthead of an example of MOJO magazines that I included. After watching the other presentations, and after miss had told us what we need to make sure we include in our analysis, I made sure that I writing in alot of detail and that I was writing about every detail that I could pick out of the masthead alone. I will continue this in tomorrow's lesson and do some more at home.

Monday 8 October 2012

Group magazine analysis

This was a presentation that we did to our class when we first started to learn about the codes and conventions. In my group was Monique and Emma. We analysed the double page spread, contents page and front cover of some magazines. It made us aware of what we will have to include in our own magazine, making sure that we are looking into detail of what we are including. It was a good lesson for us to have as it also showed the depth you should go into when making your magazine and how much meaning everything has when you think about it properly.

Mood board for R'n'B genre

Mood Board
My mood board was showing some initial thoughts that I had when I thought of my chosen genre. It showed a range of clothing and artists which are popular to my target audience which I will be aiming and focusing my magazine on.

Double page spread analysis

Double Page Spread
This was my research into double page spreads. I did this in detail because I knew that when it came to making my own magazine, I could look back on what I had written here, and what I think is important for each part of the page. I wrote a lot in this particular analysis because it was clear to me what parts were powerful and had meaning behind it. I did this for homework and it was part of my researching part of developing my knowledge of codes and conventions. As I was new to the course, learning about codes and conventions was new to me, therefore, I thought the detail I went into in this task would benefit me in the future when I could reflect it within my own work.

Project Log - 8th October

I have just finished my double page spreads and now I am going to do my mood board. I think I want to focus on the genre of RnB as it is the music that I am most interested in and I listen to it the most, this will come to my advantage as I will know more about what to put into my magazine. Also it should give me some ideas on where to take my pictures, and what sort of styling I should use for them.

Sunday 7 October 2012

Project log - 7th October

I thought I would start to get ahead a bit on my deadlines and start on my double page spread analysis. I have done one so far on the one we did in class, this came to an advantage for me because I knew what I was writing about.

Friday 5 October 2012

Project Log - 5th October

Today I plant I go to media during 4th period and do my initial ideas for my contents and double page spread. Also I will do my mood board before because I think that will give my more inspiration.

Thursday 4 October 2012

Contents page analysis

Contents Page
The contents research that I have carried out is very similar to my double page spread and front cover analysis. It was allowing me to look in my detail to the different points which are included within a magazine to make it more successful. I also learnt that the codes and conventions can determine the standard that your work can be perceived to be by a reader or viewer. From looking at a range of different contents pages, it made me want to make my contents page at a really high standard, therefore, when I do start my magazine, I will adapt and incorporate my knowledge from this task within.

Project Log - 4th October

In today's lesson we analysed a front cover, contents page and a double page spread. We did this in groups of 3 and took up our double lesson. The picture I have attached is our work in progress on the double page spread. I really enjoyed this lesson. I learnt so much more than I thought I would be able to because before this I hadn't looked at a magazine cover/contents/double spread in so much detail. I thought it was really interesting to go into so much detail of what such small things can mean.it was probably one of my favourite lessons!

Wednesday 3 October 2012

Front cover analysis

Annotation
My front cover analysis was in a lot less detail than my double page spread and contents pages were. It shows how much I have developed over a short period of time, in how I can learn about the different codes and conventions which are included within each magazine, and how it makes it successful. Even though this is in little detail, it states clearly what is important to include. You see this straight away when looking at my presentation. I can still look back on this when making my magazine as I can keep track of what I have included on my front cover which has been included on this one below.

Tuesday 2 October 2012

Project Log - 2nd October

Today I finished my magazine analysing front covers. I found it hard because I did the wrong thing at one point. I did a normal magazine instead so I had to go back and change it at the end. I wasn't sure what to write at some points when doing it so I went back to different parts  from different magazines to help me on what to write.

Monday 1 October 2012

Project log - 1st October

Today I haven't been blogging, but tomorrow I am planning on staying behind after school or maybe going in at lunch so I can carry on with my front covers which I need to analyse more. Therefore I can then move onto my contents page. I might do some more tonight and take screen shots of the stages I take to do it to show my progress in before and after.

Friday 28 September 2012

Magazines

I saw all these different magazines in a shop. I see how much a front cover can range in the different genres that are sold. It gives me an idea how the fashion magazines can look completely different from music ones. Therefore, I need to differentiate mine from all of these by comparing how the codes and conventions are used in different ways.

Thursday 27 September 2012

Project Log - 27th September

I uploaded my initial ideas for my preliminary task. This shows the difference in what my actual task ended up like to how I planned to do it. I plan to do some more work on my analysis tonight and carry on tomorrow (28th) during my free lessons. Once I have finished that I think I will start on my mood board to give me some inspiration to what I want to do for my actual magazine. E.g.: location, model, type of music, costume, etc.

Initial preliminary task

Front cover:
For my front cover, I wanted to stick to the basics of photoshop as I had never used it before. I wanted to make one person the main focus of my magazine, so I thought I would put Megan as the main focus would be about her modelling. To carry on focusing on Megan, I wanted to put a large text at the bottom stating what it is about so it doesn't cause confusion. As the magazine is about Haydon, I used some of Haydon's school colours such as blue and white. I planned to make all the titles blue with a white 'stroke' effect to it which gives boldness to the outline of the text. I wanted to do this so that I could emphasis that this is what I wanted the main focus to be on. I plan to use green to break up all the other colours used. I want to use 3 colours because otherwise it will look more unprofessional and not appealing to read if it were a real one. The sellines are all relevant to Haydon and what is going on within the school.
Contents:
My initial ideas for the contents page were to have mainly pictures and only a little amount of space for text. I planned to have a larger picture at the bottom as a simple yet meaningful image. The three others that I planned to put were off prom king and queen, year 8s pop project and just an overall image of the school. This is again relevant to the school and gives the reader an idea of what they will be reading about before they even go to the page. I chose for the text to all be in green because it goes with the front cover and also links with the picture we see at the bottom of the page. I wanted it to all flow so it looked better when I presented it on my blog.

Magazine inspiration

This front cover of a magazine grabbed my attention when I saw it in the shop. Using bright colours such as pink and yellow makes sure you don't miss what the text says. The images used are relevant to all of the stories use and are used to entertain the reader. Small parts of the magazine such as the price if it are used to make the reader want to buy it as it is cheap. A lot has been put onto the front cover, this gives the reader a sneak peak of what is going to be included in the magazine.

Project Log - 27th September

In today's lesson, I added more to my analysis of magazine front covers. I focused on my Amy Winehouse 'MOJO' cover. I got a lot more information from my teacher on what I need to do from now on in my next few lessons coming up. I now know that ive got to work on finishing three front cover analysis so that I can move onto the contents page so that I can upload this to scribd then upload to my blog. Next lesson I plan to move forward with my blog. I will already have finished my analysis and it would have been uploaded. I will make more labels on my blog which makes it more organised and easy to access my work.

Production Log - 26th September 2012

Today i created a Prezi account where i started to set up my presentation of how I analyse different magazines. I started to follow people on my blog aswell. I asked Monique of what she thought of what I have done so far, and the feedback she gave me was that we are at the same point of working, and that my blog is looking good so far. Tomorrow in my double lesson, I plan on carrying on with the analysis on magazine covers which I started a few lessons ago.

Contents page - preliminary task

This is my contents page that I made to go with my magazine 'Haydons Talk'. To start off I put the masthead at the top of the page. I put it at the top right hand corner because the rest of the text is placed on the right hand side. This way it shows the seperation of the two texts to show what is meant to catch your attention first. I made the text green because it matched the colour of the grass, and helped form a house colour. Only using one colour was my choice because I didnt want to make it look tacky and unprofessional. I made the contents page simple because then it is easy to follow. All my pages are relevant to Haydon recently including different year groups so it is good for everyone to read.

In addition to this, I added this image to my contents page as I wanted to capture all aspects of the field. I wanted to do this because it shows how big the school is and how the image could be a metaphor for the amount of news that goes on within the school.

Using the same colour and size font for the numbers and text because the page hasnt got to much on it, which means the reader is instantly looks to the text because nothing is over the top. Having this font was because I didnt want to over-do the look of going to a more professional look. I wanted to keep it simple so it is easy to read and doesnt cause confusion. I left a good amount of spacing between each of the lines so that it is clear to the reader.

Front cover - preliminary task

This is the front cover that I designed for my 'Talk of Haydon'. I made the background image of Megan because I made her the main topic of my magazine. I made this my image choice because it is a main bleed image. Megan takes up the whole background which emphasises how the topic of the modelling competition is important within the magazine. The image of Megan also portrays the look of a casting picture which is used in modelling. It was taken within the school which highlights the fact she has won it for Haydon School.

The colours i have used set a house style. It is eyecatching but at the same time, not over the top. I used subtle colours such as Blue, white and green. Using blue and white highlights the Haydon colours which again reminds us it is all about the school she's from. I gave some of the text the 'stroke' effect which boldens the text and indicates the importance of it. Not only this, it draws your attention to it straight away and again, it highlights the way it is the main topic. The masthead has also got the 'stroke' effect, but has a thicker outline as that is what you want to notice first when you look at the magazine. The subtitle of 'our weekly news' shows the news is offered to the school every week. I chose the colour of light blue because it doesnt destract the attention away from the masthead. It is still visable, but isnt to bright to catch your attention.

The cell lines have been structured so that they are at different levels which makes the magazine more interesting to look at. Looking at the cell lines, the colours have been arranged so they go in an order of colour. Some have been made in bold. This helps it look more sophisticated. I chose where i put the text carefully because the colours of Megans shirt effected my choice of colours. I couldnt put white on her forearm because the white text was then hard to see.
